Australian Landscapes

 

This research has led to a new departure in my studio practice initially in the combination of black and white clays and more vibrant colour as I become more immersed in the Queensland contrasting landscape and the light upon it. Engaging in the diversity of is  new  experienced landscape the recent work  embraces contrasts of control and chance within in its making. The surface built up and transformed through multiple layers of porcelain and black clays and porcelains clay infused with ceramic pigments. The work is in flux held with the vessel,” cauldron” like retaining  the ceramic magma.The process begins to reveal its own language, determined in part, by chance as the vessel is formed from its grounding to its edge and continuing within its interior.

.”The artwork has its own soul, you can almost see it moving:). It reminds me to go with the flow in a graceful way. Love how the elements feel alive in the piece. 

It’s funny because I’ve been seeing dragonflies lately, and I believe they symbolize new beginnings and transformation. So, it really speaks to me as I move into this new chapter of my life. I have no idea what the future holds, and I don’t have a plan either.”

Tyger Tyger  burning bright in the forests of the night”

My ceramic practice continues to manifest those unexpected instances found within the natural environment. 

The assemblage are of two and three parts which are of one and separate framing of the nightscape the moonlight depicted traversing the infinity of the night  were edges of the landscape are lost.The transiting of the moon across these skies reveals those glimpse of the secrets embedded within the vastness of the darkened land.
